Any question that begins with the term, “Where?”, can mean one of a few things. It may be intended to be philosophic: “Where is your brain?” In other words, “What were you thinking?” The question may be practical: “Honey, where did you put the remote this time?” Or the question may betray frantic desperation: “Honey, where is my credit card you borrowed?”

Of course most typically, the question simply reflects a desire to know the particular whereabouts of someone or something. To a coworker, “Where is the Christmas Party being held this year?” To a toddler daughter, “Where do think you’re going?” Or to a teenage son, “Where did you get that?”

Please come this Sunday as we step back in time to hear the magi from the east ask a “Where?” question that encompassed all of the aforementioned nuances of the term. To King Herod they asked, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews?”; a question that still rings with relevance today.
